Alia Janine
Alia Janine: producing comedy in New York
Her comedy career includes organizing productions as well as delivering her own material on stage.
A company founded in 2015
Janine established Hardcore Comedy Entertainment in New York in 2015. Its own description identifies stand-up shows, sketches and podcasts among the formats it produces.
Her biography names the Hardcore Comedy Show at The Stand as one of the company’s productions. This places her work behind a show alongside her role as a comedian.
Learning around comedy clubs
Before moving to New York, Janine had worked behind the bar at a Florida comedy club. She also recalled spending time at the comedy venue beneath a dance club in Milwaukee.
In her 2015 interview, she said her first publicist encouraged her to try stand-up. She had performed sketches, but holding the stage alone was another kind of work.
The New York stage
Janine’s professional biography lists The Stand, Comedy Cellar, Stand Up NY, New York Comedy Club and Gotham Comedy Club among her performance settings. It also describes opening for Mike Yard at the Comedy Cellar’s Fat Black Pussycat.
She moved from Los Angeles to New York in 2013 to pursue comedy and study. Her training included Upright Citizens Brigade, Manhattan Comedy School and Rick Crom’s Comedy School.
