Alia Janine: a history of podcasting and radio

Janine has worked as a podcast host, network organizer and guest. Her interviews document different stages of that work.

The Misfits Network in 2015

In November 2015, Janine described the Misfits Network as about a year old, with eleven shows. She named her Whormones Podcast and Kevin Bartini’s Movie Preview Review among them.

She said she wanted to help smaller programmes build a following. The network included shows she found funny and informative, alongside her own podcast.

An idea worth discussing

Asked about beginning a podcast, Janine encouraged people with an interesting concept or stories to try. She said a programme could be serious or informative as well as comedic.

Her examples included subjects a host cared about and news discussions. Her explanation concerned finding something to talk about, whether or not the host already had an audience.

Later hosting and guest appearances

Her later biography identifies her as the host of How to Do Drugs. The programme title belongs to her podcasting work; this profile covers the project’s place in her career.

She also lists radio appearances on Sway in the Morning, The Karen Hunter Show, The Bennington Show and Tell Me Everything with John Fugelsang. Her podcast guest credits include YKWD and The SDR Show.
